The program is dedicated in building future Texas leaders so that our food and fiber system is preserved and enhanced.
Each program lasts two years and has eight seminars with 45 days of intense training with over 300 speakers which include guest speakers, current leaders, tours, on-site visits, receptions, discussions and leadership course work. In all, participants will meet over 2,000 people during their two-year experience.
In Texas, agriculture is a leading industry. In 2017, Texas farmers and ranchers sold $24.9 billion in agricultural products. Texas leads the nation in number of farms and ranches, with 248,416 farms and ranches covering 127 million acres. And, one of every seven working Texans (14%) is in an agriculture-related job.
