2017 Heritage Land Bank Scholarship Recipients

Tyler, Texas (May 26, 2017) – As part of its ongoing support of area youth, Heritage Land Bank is pleased to announce the winners of its 2017 scholarship program for graduating high school seniors. Each of the four students selected will receive $2,500 towards his or her 2017-2018 freshman year at their chosen college or university.

Plus, in celebration of its 100th anniversary, Heritage Land Bank has awarded a special Centennial Scholarship in the amount of $1,000.

Selection of the four qualifying scholarship winners was based on merit, including scholastic achievement, extracurricular activities, and leadership qualities. Each student also submitted a written essay and personal video on how they would use the scholarship to advance their post-secondary education.

“We congratulate all of the Heritage Land Bank 2017 scholarship winners. This year’s recipients exhibit an impressive caliber of accomplishment,” said Heritage Land Bank CEO Bill Tandy. “We look forward to seeing these young people further their education and contribute to the future of our communities and the world.”

    Plans to study for a career as a Public Relations Manager

Heritage Land Bank Centennial Scholarship Winner

Hunter Jennings of Azle High School in Azle, Texas, was selected as the recipient of the 2017 Heritage Land Bank Centennial Scholarship ($1,000). Jennings was one of eight students competing for the scholarship on Heritage Land Bank’s Facebook page and was voted the winner by the public. Jennings plans to major in Finance at Abilene Christian University in Abilene, Texas. His parents are Corbett and Elizabeth Jennings.

“This award is very special to us,” Tandy added. “It commemorates Heritage Land Bank’s 100-year history of helping people achieve their dreams, whether they are students, farmers, ranchers or homeowners.”
